It took a global lockdown to remind us how powerful a simple bar of soap could be. During COVID, the world was told to wash its hands and maintain hygiene, and for good reason. That’s when I learned that soap quite literally tears through bacteria and microbes, breaking them down and washing them away. Isn’t that what bathing was always meant to be about? Staying clean, staying hygienic, staying safe. That’s when it struck me that soap wasn’t just another product; it was protection, hygiene, and care, all in one simple bar. It was almost a superpower.
But somewhere along the way, that truth got lost. Hygiene took a backseat, and vanity took over. The market became flooded with products sold on the strength of their fragrance, color, and foam. Detergent-loaded formulas looked good, smelled good, and did little for the skin. The irony was hard to ignore. A product meant to clean had itself become dirty, packed with unnecessary ingredients that diluted its true purpose.
That curiosity led me to the world of cold process soaps. Real soaps. No glitter, no gimmicks. Just oils, butters, and time doing what they are supposed to do. When I discovered that real superfoods could be infused into these bars to nourish and protect the skin, everything clicked. I knew there were many people still unaware of how different and effective cold process soaps could be, and I wanted to bring that experience to them. That realisation sparked a question.
By 2021, I was hooked. Small batches, late nights, and a growing belief that hygiene deserved a comeback.
That’s how Why So Curious began, from one simple truth that refused to stay quiet.
